tAe Mana0&t'a S>ea&: Jeny Clemens – General Manager Welly I sort of jumped the gun a bit last month and had to do some major backpedaling on the hiring of a new Chef However^ this month I am very happy to announce that I have, in facty hired Glenn Kempa as our Chef GlenUy whom some of you may have already mety is also a Yankee by birthy but a Floridian by choice. He is a native of Illinois and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the Providencey RI campus of Johnson &. Wales. He graduated with a 3,69 GPA and holds several awards and honors. If you get an opportunity to meet hinty Vm sure you will agree he is an exceptional young man and I am convinced that he will be an asset to St, Charles and a welcome member of thefamily. Several of you have expressed a desire to have additional choices and a better selection of merchandise available in the Ship's Store, I have ordered some new shirts (in colors)y pullover windbreakersy a different style of hat andy alsOy the blazer badges. The badges should be here any dayy with the other merchandise to follow shortly, I will place these items on displcty as soon as they arrivey so keep an eye on the display case in the foyer, I'm still trying to locate the license plates. If anyone has suggestions about additional items that we might want to consider carryingy please let me know. On that same subjecty I recently received a new shipment of the FCYC "Guide to The Clubs," If you don't have one of thesey you really should,„maybe even two — one for your boat and one for your car. DAY CRUISE TO USEPPA By Linda Orr What a great day we had on our lunch cruise to Useppa! Judy & Tom Niswonger did an outstanding job of coordinating this trip, which took a great deal of advanced planning. Five boats and 39 people made this trip. Our General Manager, Jerry Clemens, greeted each of us on the docks with hometnade cookies, which were still warmfrom the oven! Thanks, Jerry – what a nice send-off and what a delicious treat for our return trip to St. Charles! Aboard Judy & Tom Niswonger's Wolverine were Ginny Widrick and Ginny's houseguests, Candace, Janet and Marsha from Chicago, as well as St. Charles' new members Yvonne & Mike Neal and our Treasurer, Steve Abbott. Aboard Sharon & Steve Renk's Carpe Diem were their guests Ellen & Keith Sperling, along with Kathy & Hank Picozzi, Deborah & Dennis Petroff and Geri & A! DeGenova, with their guests Faith & Angelo Marasco. Traveling on Claire & Harry Randall's boat Sunshine were Harry's delightful 90-year-old mother, new members Sue & Frank Moore and Anne & Phil Kniskern. The Moores and Kniskerns enjoyed talking about Norman's Cay in the Exumas, which the Moores have visited and the Kniskerns occupied prior to take-over by the drug lords. Nancy & Andy Anderson had four Orrs aboard FlyAway. Andy was shocked to see that it was Nebraskans throwing lines over the poles while docking. He was quickly assured that if you can rope a heifer, you can attach a line to a pole! New Members Diana & Ken Cain welcomed Ada Ann & Glenn Healey and Carmela Decker aboard Hurricain. Glenn and Ken discovered they had attended the same church, as well as competing high schools in Cincinnati! A photo of Glenn Healey holding the winning fish from the fishing tournament on May 23, 1987 is displayed in the dining room of the Collier Inn (see photo below). Glenn lived on Useppa for sixteen years and won the fishing tournament four out of 14 years. Glenn showed several of the lunch cruisers the home he owned on the island We enjoyed watching the croquet warm-ups, whici were taking place prior to the start of the sanctionec croquet tournament, which was to begin the followinf^ day. We also enjoyed spending time in the /slant. Museum, learning the history ofthe area. The weather was beautiful, even though one of out boaters, who obviously is a full-time Floridian, was seen wearing her long silk underwear and turtleneck, while others were in their shirt sleeves! Judy & Tom, this is a trip we will want to do again and again! Anne & Phi! Kniskern with Claire & Harry Randall and his 90-year-old Mother Glenn Healey proudly displaying his winning picture! CHARLOTTE HARBOR/ ISLES YACHT CLUB APRIL 15-18 Mark your calendars and watch your Signals for details. Vic Pfeiffer will be your Cruise Leader. Anyone interested please call Vic at 590-9840 or Al DeGenova at 454-3183 as soon as possible.
